Every year “World Environment Day” celebrated with unique theme. Hence, ecosystem restoration system is 2021 theme. Now the question is why do we celebrate environment day every year and what is an ecosystem and its restoration?

Does environment have any impact on one’s survival? If yes, then why we are deteriorating our environment?

Ecosystem

An ecosystem is a system made up of biotic and abiotic elements that work together to form a whole. All biological things are classified as biotic components, while non-living things are classified as abiotic components. As a result, an ecosystem science definition includes an ecological community made up of various populations of species living together in a certain habitat.

Ecosystem Restoration.

Ecosystems and biodiversity are essential for economic growth, long-term development, and human well-being. Despite this, biodiversity loss continues, resulting in significant decreases in ecosystem products and services, putting economic success and environmental sustainability at risk. Overexploitation of natural resources has upset the equilibrium within ecological systems for ages, causing ecosystem changes all across the planet. Damage, unsustainable development, and a failure to invest and reinvest in the productivity, health, and sustainability of Earth’s ecosystems are all contributing to their degradation. In the following decades, the world’s population’s well-being will be heavily reliant on ecosystem conservation and restoration to maintain and enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services, thereby contributing to sustainable development while decreasing environmental threats.

Does environment have any impact on human life?

Yes, environment plays extremely important role in an individual life. Therefore, breathing in pollution free and healthy environment is a basic requirement of every individual. Pollution, deforestation, urbanization and agricultural intensification are major source of environmental degradation. However, we think about these issues and barely take action against environment degradation.

Why do we celebrate World Environment day?

Now, there comes answer.  We celebrate this to go beyond our thoughts about environmental issues.  Therefore, the purpose of this day is to spread awareness about pollution and climate change.

So, there is an immediate need to join hands together against environmental issues.
