Islam has five major pillars. Islam’s two major perspectives are “Submission” and “Peace”. Submission means to surrender in front of Allah and peace means to promote peace. Therefore, Islam is a religion of peace because it prohibits violence. Although, Islam has commanded jihad but for just cause.
Following are the main pillars of Islam. Accepting all these faiths and beliefs is mandatory for those who accept Islam as their religion.
Five Major Pillars of Islam
Faith in Oneness of Allah
Faith in oneness of Allah is the first main pillar of Islam “There is no God, but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah”. This is the first condition of acceptance of Islam. Therefore, submission of one’s will in front of Allah is the first belief of every Muslim.
Faith in Messengers of Allah
The second pillar of Islam is belief in Allah’s Messenger. Messengers were those selected people who brought Allah’s message to us. The first Prophet of Allah was Adam and the last one was Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Faith in Angels
Third pillar of Islam is belief in angels of Allah. Allah has created angels for multiple tasks related to humans. There are different angels who have given special task to perform. Jibril is known as angel of revelation whereas Azrael takes soul from human body. So, believe in each and every angel of Allah is mandatory for every Muslim.
Faith in Holy Books
Fourth pillar of Islam is belief in Holy Books. Allah has revealed four Holy books on his Messengers. Turat revealed to Musa, Zabur revealed to Dawd, Injil revealed to Isa and Quran revealed to Muhammad.
Faith in Day of Judgment
This world is temporary; everyone has to die one day. The day of judgment would be the day when everyone will would get reward or punishment of their deeds.
