Bishop Praised Babar’s ODI Form

Former West Indies fast bowler and commentator Ian Bishop praised Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s performances in one-day international cricket, describing him as a player moving toward greatness in the white-ball game.

Babar was the No. 1 ranked batter in the ICC men’s ODI batting rankings during this period. His strong average and century record were central to the discussion around his performances.

Comparison With Virat Kohli

Bishop also discussed Babar alongside India’s Virat Kohli. Such comparisons are assessments by commentators rather than an objective declaration that one player is permanently the “best” batter. Rankings, form, career longevity and performances across formats can produce different comparisons.

Test Cricket

Bishop also said he believed Babar had room to progress further in Test cricket while recognizing his technical ability and potential.

The comments illustrate the high regard in which Babar’s ODI batting was held in 2022. Current player rankings and statistics should be checked separately because they are inherently time-sensitive.
