Best Lakes to Visit in Pakistan

SAIF-UL-MALUK LAKE

Saif-ul-Maluk Lake is a 2.5-square-kilometre lake near Naran. With a depth of around 50 feet below the surface, it is one of Pakistan’s highest and most picturesque lakes. The lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and the lake continues to be fed by the melting glaciers from these peaks, which are the source of the Kunhar River. A 30-minute jeep trip from Naran Valley will take you to the lake.

ATTABAD LAKE

Gojal village in Hunza Valley is home to another high-altitude lake in Pakistan, which is considered to be the most scenic. While the lake is natural, it was not even on the map until a landslide in 2010 obstructed a stretch of the Hunza River, resulting in the formation of Attabad Lake.

Attabad Lake is the largest lake in Gilgit-Baltistan, covering 13.5 square kilometres and attracting both national and foreign tourists. The lake’s azure waters are 358 feet deep, and tourists can enjoy boating, swimming, and jet skiing while taking in the scenery of the Alps.

RUSH LAKE

Rush Lake is Pakistan’s highest lake, rising more than 15,000 feet above sea level. It is also the world’s 25th highest lake, with its home in Gilgit-Nagar Baltistan’s Valley. Only a journey through the Nagar and Hopar valleys will get you to the lake. The path may be perilous, but the vistas are breathtaking.

SATPARA LAKE

Satpara Lake is Pakistan’s largest freshwater lake, with a surface area of 2.5 square kilometres. The Satpara Stream enters the lake and feeds the Satpara Dam, which provides fresh water to the entire Skardu Valley.
