Historical context: This article concerns COVID-19 measures reported in Pakistan in July 2022. It does not describe current travel requirements.

Additional monitoring was ordered

Pakistani health authorities increased monitoring of passengers arriving from or travelling through India amid concern about COVID-19 cases and Omicron subvariants circulating at the time.

Health authorities were reported to have issued instructions for stronger screening arrangements at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport.

Connecting passengers were included

Because direct travel between India and Pakistan was restricted, attention also extended to passengers reaching Pakistan through connecting routes.

Pakistan was also recording COVID-19 cases

The measure came while Pakistan continued to record coronavirus infections and monitor positivity rates and seriously ill patients.

COVID-19 variants, testing rules, vaccination requirements and international travel policies changed repeatedly during the pandemic. Travellers should therefore rely on current official requirements rather than this July 2022 report.
