Role of Establishment(PK)

Pakistan’s constitution of 1973 declares it as a democratic country, however, this principle remains confined to the legal document and does not necessarily reflect the actual state of affairs.

Role of Establishment:

The hindrance to Pakistan’s full democratic development is primarily attributed to the establishment. This dominant group, which typically consists of military and high-ranking officials, wields significant control over the country’s political landscape. Unfortunately, the establishment has consistently disrupted, destabilized, and tarnished Pakistan since its inception. The military’s interference in politics is evident through the imposition of martial law on four separate occasions. Both the military and intelligence agencies frequently meddle in political affairs, neglecting the current issues and challenges facing Pakistan.

Currently, Pakistan is encountering numerous difficulties and obstacles due to the negligence and lack of interest from the establishment. It is evident that the ruling government in Pakistan is affiliated with the political party favored by the establishment. The establishment prioritizes their own agendas over the well-being of the nation. Despite having a clear understanding of Pakistan’s issues, they ignore them.

The root cause of injustice in Pakistan lies with them, giving rise to a host of other societal problems such as corruption, bribery, and terrorism. Unfortunately, they hold sway over the courts in Pakistan, leading to a lack of effectiveness in carrying out their responsibilities. Those who attempt to challenge them are met with suppression, imprisonment, or even death. This was the fate of Imran Khan. Nevertheless, the establishment has not succeeded in stirring up animosity towards him among the younger generation.

Many individuals in Pakistan have raised their voices against the establishment, but unfortunately, their efforts have been futile. If our leaders were to actively and genuinely oppose this, we could potentially rid ourselves of this so-called establishment, leading Pakistan to truly become a democratic state.
